THE CHALLENGE

The fundamental objective of the project was to develop a global design system, analyzing and understanding the situation within an International Bank with several countries, where they have different needs to provide both a global and region-specific solution.

The project called for creating a consistent global library to build digital products such as mobile applications, websites and web apps. We offered a design microsystem to fit the needs of that product.

Thus arose the need for Foundations and Components libraries for use across these products. Apart from this, a guide documentation was required for its realization. ‍

Agreements had to be taken into account to ensure quality and consistency across all assets and to improve the speed and efficiency of design and development work with material solutions such as sketch libraries, documentation, and tokenization.

The result is called Flame, not only as a design system, but as a design ecosystem, since it is a system of systems. A complex but solid structure built to be a really useful tool for a corporation as large and diverse as Santander.

Our challenge was based on not only a global library but that these could be replicated and modified, adapting to the needs and singularities of each team.

All of this was collected in a single source of truth, which helped creation with greater speed and efficiency.‍
